Botulinum toxin is injected using a fine needle, into to target muscle to temporarily block the nerve signal. which relaxes the underlying facial muscles, providing a visibly youthful and refreshed appearance.
There are many brands available in the UK which include Botox, Azzalure, Bocouture, Letybo, Nuceiva, and Alluzience. All brands are prescription-only medicines (POMs) which means they can only be prescribed by a practitioner with a prescribing qualification. If you are considering this treatment you must have a face-to-face consultation with a practitioner who is able to prescribe botulinum toxin.
It is a quick and virtually painless process that takes about 10 minutes.
After the treatment, it takes approximately 2 to 3 days to start working, with the full effect becoming evident within 2 to 3 weeks. While the results are not permanent, lasting around 3 to 4 months, the treatment offers a convenient way to maintain a youthful look without the need for surgery.

Pre-treatment advice:
* Avoid taking anti-inflammatories (such as ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen) for 3 days prior (unless prescribed by a doctor) as this increases the risk of bruising.
* Avoid alcohol, fish oils, St John's-wort, ginkgo biloba, garlic, and vitamin E should also be avoided for 3 days prior to treatment to lessen the risk of bruising.
* If you are prone to bruising, taking arnica orally for a few days prior to treatment may lessen the risk.
* If you are unwell on the day of your appointment, contact Natalie to reschedule.
* Ensure Natalie is informed if there are any changes in your medical history or medication taken before receiving any treatment
* Do not plan to have treatment within 2 weeks of an important event or holiday as this may not allow enough time for side effects, such as bruising, or to have a review appointment.
Post-treatment advice:
Most people can resume their normal daily activities, following treatment. Immediately afterwards there may be some redness and minor swelling at the injection sites. Some people may develop a headache, simple analgesia can be taken for this
It is advised;
* Do not apply makeup for 12 hours
* Try to avoid touching or rubbing the treated area until the following day as it may affect the results
* Avoid extremes of hot or cold and vigorous exercise on the treatment day
