Dermal fillers are popular treatments used to soften and plump wrinkles, facial lines and laughter lines caused naturally by ageing or sun exposure in older people. Once injected into an area, the filler instantly creates a smoother and more youthful appearance. In younger people dermal fillers can be used for contouring to create cheekbones and strong jawlines.

What areas can be treated?

  • Correction or enhancement of facial contours including the cheeks, temples, jawline chin & nose
  • Correction of sagging and creating lift
  • Correction, definition and enhancement of the lips
  • Correction and softening of facial wrinkles and folds such as nose-mouth lines (naso-labial) and mouth-chin lines(marionette)
  • Correction of hollows and/or dark circles under the eye (tear trough)
  • Improvement of the tone, texture & hydration of the skin
  • Restoration of loss of volume to the hands to reduce the appearance of veins & tendons

Am I suitable for treatment?

  • It is not recommended if you have a skin infection at the site of proposed treatment
  • If you have had a previous allergic reaction to dermal fillers or local anaesthetic
  • If you are taking medicines which affect bleeding such as warfarin, heparin & aspirin
  • If you take steroids or have an auto-immune disorder
  • If you have a bleeding disorder or poorly controlled medical condition
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If you have completed a course of roacutane (treatment for acne) within the last 18 months

Is it safe & does it hurt?

Dermal fillers are a sterile, clear gel like substance made up of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body/skin and it attracts and binds with water to give the skin volume & hydration. It also acts as a cushion to support collagen & elastin fibres. As we age the natural hyaluronic acid content in our skin loses the capacity to store water. The skin loses moisture and volume, becomes drier and thinner and regenerates less efficiently.

Once injected into an area dermal fillers work by boosting the skins supply of hyaluronic acid to revitalize and add volume to the skin, instantly reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It can be long lasting but is not permanent and is reversible.

We only use well tested, reliable fillers that are perfectly safe.
