Procedure Details

Botulinum Toxin A is a prescription only medicine which means, by law,  a face to face consultation is required with a prescribing professional prior to administration.

At consultation we will discuss

  • Any revelant medical history
  • Discuss your expectations, assess your suitability for treatment and possible treatment options for you to consider
  • Explain the treatment plan and any risks and complications
  • Post treatment advice
  • Before, sometimes during and after treatment photographs.

On the day of the procedure a series of small injections, in approved doses, are given to the area requiring treatment often the frown, forehead & crows feet. This will feel like a small scratch and is not overly painful. The results can be seen in as little as 3 days but the full effect can take up to 14 days. This is when you will be offered a review and a top up may be considered.

Aftercare

  • Try to contract the treated muscle ares for up to 4 hours post treatment by frowning & lifting the eyebrow to allow to toxin to reach all of the treated muscle.
  • Avoid applying makeup for 4 hours
  • Avoid rubbing or touching the injected area for 4 hours to avoid spread and risk of infection
  • Avoid facials and massage for 48hours to ensure the treatment remains at the site of injection
  • Avoid vigorous exercise and  abstain from alcohol for 48hrs as this can reduce the efficiacy of the toxin
  • If bruising develops arnica cream can be used

How long does it last?

The results can vary in every individual and can last up to 6 months but typically range from  3-4 months. At this time, you can choose to have another treatment or let your face return to the way it was prior to the toxin. In some areas, such as the frown line, the lines/wrinkles may return less severe as the unconscious muscle contraction habit is broken
